Interview with the founder of Mekedonia, Binyam Belete. Binyam spoke about his parents for the first time. Binyam Belete is an Ethiopian charity worker and founder of the Macedonians Humanitarian Association (MHA). The MHA refers to itself as an indigenous non-governmental, not-for-profit, and independent organization, founded on 7 January 2010. Binyam has appeared on several Ethiopian TV shows and is widely acclaimed for taking care of the elderly and the mentally disabled who have no access to health care or any palliative care during their old age. He pursued a compassionate path forgoing the amenities of living a luxurious life. In his interview with Seifu Fantahun, he told him that he started his charity using his father’s residence and that his institution currently helps more than 800 helpless elders. Considering his good deeds, Bahir Dar University recently conferred an honorary doctorate to Ato Binyam Belete. We are an organization focused on helping the lives of the elderly and those with mental disabilities, by providing all basic services (food, clothes, shelter, hygiene facilities, medical, educational, and others) to the residents in the center. Helping the disabled by encouragement and rehabilitation to develop their physical and mental capacities; Providing education, training, and employment opportunities as possible to all disabled and elderly people in the country, Helping disabled and elderly people with the potential to find and retain employment and other needs to participate fully in the everyday life of society.
